Thighs are areas of concern for many people due to excessive weight gain or loss, and the fact that, even with exercise, the thighs are difficult to slim down. A thigh lift by a plastic surgeon who promotes safety and comfort can be the difference between thighs that you hide and thighs that you love! Dr. Jennifer Emmett, board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, has helped men and women in the Denver and Douglas County area get slim and shapely thighs. She performs thigh lifts at Emmett Plastic Surgery in Lone Tree.
What is a Thigh Lift?
A thigh lift is a plastic surgery procedure that gives a patient an immediate reduction in thigh size and contours the thigh into a shapely form. Typically, thigh lifts require only a minimal incision. In cases of excess fat and severely hanging skin, Dr. Emmett may need to make a larger incision.
A thigh lift can make it possible for a person to dress in many desired styles of clothing. It also makes wearing a swimsuit a reality for individuals who previously felt self-conscious.
Preparing for a Thigh Lift
To help her patients prepare for a thigh lift, Dr. Emmett asks about their medical history, medications, allergies, previous cosmetic surgery procedures, and the reasons for seeking a thigh lift. She wants to make sure that she knows about any supplements her patients might be taking since these substances can affect blood pressure and clotting.
When you meet with Dr. Emmett for your thigh lift consultation, she will want you to be honest about your use of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs, since these substances can affect your ability to heal. Dr. Emmett will speak to you in depth about the procedure, and she will encourage you to bring in any family members who might want to hear about your healing process.
The Thigh Lift Procedure
Your thigh lift procedure could take three to six hours. To begin the procedure, local anesthesia is given so that Dr. Emmett can make the necessary incisions and remove fat and skin. Local anesthesia is used due to lower risks and a speedier recovery.
Depending on your exact goals, the incision could be small or it may go all the way around the thigh in the crease of your groin. Dr. Emmett will separate your skin from the muscle and fat. She will pull the skin upward, remove excess skin, and stretch the remaining skin back into place. Small stitches will be used to close the incisions. Dr. Emmett will use bandages to cover the area so that it can heal. You may have small drainage tubes inserted into the skin to remove excess blood and fluid. These tubes might need to stay in for several days.
How Much Does a Thigh Lift Cost?
The cost for your thigh lift will depend on your individual goals for cosmetic surgery. Dr. Emmett is happy to discuss these costs with you before you make your decision to undergo a thigh lift. Insurance does not cover thigh lifts, so Dr. Emmett offers financing options via CareCredit®, Simmons Bank, and Prosper® Healthcare Lending to make the procedure affordable. She also accepts cash, personal checks, and credit cards.
